About Jack Duncan
Jack Duncan is currently the Chair of Classical Architecture and Allied Arts, having written and developed the full curriculum for the specialization. A commitment to both the practice and theory of traditional and classical architecture is at the forefront of his design philosophy and pedagogical approach to the curriculum at ACBA. Professor Duncan believes that great architecture is made while designer and craftsperson work in concert to both teach and learn from each other to create more durable, sustainable and beautiful architecture, landscapes and urbanism. To this end his approach to the craft of architecture has always been collaborative and from a place of humility.
Professor Duncan earned his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame where he developed a keen interest in how the methodology of construction is imbued, or not, in architectural form. He is currently teaching studios in the Classical Orders of Architecture, Formal Rendering of Architectural Subjects, Special Topics in Rural and Vernacular Architecture, as well as the Terminal Design Studio for all Seniors. He feels incredibly fortunate to be able to engage with the art of architecture each day with students and practitioners alike.
