Externships

Externships help students expand their skills and gain valuable real-world experience during their course of study. Past externship experiences have allowed students to repair windows in the Oval Office of the White House, study under master blacksmiths of Italy, and replicated garden follies at George Washington’s Mount Vernon.

Most externships last eight to 10 weeks and take place in June and July. Students are often compensated for their work and gain valuable networking contacts as they prepare for their careers.

Students seeking the A.A.S. degree must complete one externship between their two years at ACBA; B.A.S. students must complete three externships during the summers following the freshman, sophomore and junior years. Each externship must be completed to continue work in the subsequent year.

It is the student’s responsibility to take the initiative to work with a faculty member to arrange suitable externships to complete their program. Below is a list of many of the externship sites where our students have worked. This is not an exhaustive list and should be used only as a reference.
