Dwell Magazine Captures the Heart of ACBA

The American College of the Building Arts is proud to be featured in the September/October 2026 issue of Dwell magazine, in an article that beautifully captures the essence of our college. Written by Anjulie Rao, with photography by Will Crooks, the feature offers readers an authentic glimpse into the people, traditions, and craftsmanship that make ACBA so unique. From our historic Charleston Trolley Barn campus to the workshops where students spend countless hours perfecting their skills, the article highlights the dedication and passion at the heart of our educational experience. More than simply exploring our six traditional building arts specializations, Dwell captures the relationships between students and faculty, the importance of hands on learning, and the pride that comes from creating something meaningful. What makes this recognition particularly special is the way the article conveys not just what we teach, but why we teach it. Through its thoughtful storytelling and photography, Dwell illustrates ACBA’s commitment to preserving traditional craftsmanship while preparing the next generation of skilled artisans and preservationists. We are grateful to Dwell for sharing our story and capturing what makes ACBA more than a college: a community dedicated to honoring the past, embracing creativity, and building a lasting future.
